Mezzo at large

♫ With a 3-octave range and gender-flexing timbre, this mezzo is equally at home singing soprano, non-binary alto, countertenor or tenor range parts.

♫ However, s/he usually recommends blending soprano range singers with other voice parts (rather than unison blend), for the sake of shared overtone generation. High range mezzos are good at this!

It’s a violin, no it’s a clarinet! A trumpet?!

“Invisible reinforcement”

♫ Think of a string quartet, where the entire ensemble can sound like a single instrument. Think of seamless doo-wop harmony where you can’t tell who is singing which notes.

♫ In choirs, Aditi’s clear timbre supports group accuracy and confidence; yet can literally vanish into the texture of an ensemble.

♫ It is usually inaudible to the audience and even to a director! Yet you know something has changed because of increased unity and sparkle in the section sound.

Why straight tone?

♫ Any ensemble instrument or vocalist needs to have the capacity for straight tone, to enable implied resonances (shared overtones and undertones) to develop with other voices and instruments. Vibrato may be used as a discretionary ornament.

Need vibrato?

Vibrato effects are available for a nominal extra charge, if and when they are stylistically appropriate e.g. in Gospel or Romantic repertoire.

♫ Please do ask to hear “Amazing Grace” sung in Celtic style straight tone, or Mendelssohn sung with Baroque timbre, before making your final purchase decision.
